– Cody Hall Camp Director
After spending 20+ years involved with the George Curry QB Camp (as a player and ultimately a coach) I can bear witness to the indelible mark his camp made on me both personally and professionally. Till this very day the Curry Camp is a huge part of my development as a coach and I’ve enjoyed being one of so many disciples of the Legendary George Curry. In honor and remembrance of my beloved HS coach, and with the blessing of his son Dr. Cosmas Curry, Philadelphia QB Academy will host its inaugural one day QB clinic.
CAMP BACKSTORY
Memorial Day Weekend 2016, Philadelphia QB Academy Director Cody Hall invited several Greater Philadelphia Area quarterbacks to attend the prestigious “George Curry QB Camp” in football famed Berwick Pennsylvania. The opportunity to experience such a distinguished and renowned football setting is everything a true footballer could ever ask for. In the first year of procuring sponsorship money for Philadelphia youth and high school QBs, a handful of Philly Youth Football coaches and players were able to have first hand experience with the football-revival atmosphere that permeates throughout the great Pennsylvania town of Berwick. Three of the coaches who made the maiden voyage (Greg Bonner, William Lee, & Bryant “Slice” Paden) were heavy hitters on the youth football scene in the city of Philadelphia and had Pop Warner Super Bowl Titles to back up their status. They were humbled by the opportunity to participate in this football journey and almost immediately started to tell me how all of Philadelphia could benefit from having such organized, detailed, & proven teachings. This was music to my ears because I too had been pondering running a first class quarterback event in inner city Philadelphia. One year turned into two, and a handful of QB’s turned into a couple vans full of youngsters. Trekking back up to Berwick, PA for another year of Curry QB Camp in the late spring of 2017. After another phenomenal football outing & seeing how fired up the kids were for what was a second year in “football country” Pennsylvania, it was inevitable that the lessons taught by the greatest football coach in the history of Pennsylvania football would soon be brought to The City of Brotherly Love.
